You will need the following three numbers to access the voice mail system:
On Campus: 4-0505
Off Campus: 244-0505 or 217-244-0505
This is the key that opens your voice mailbox. Each time you call voice mail, you will be prompted for your passcode. Please keep it confidential. You get to choose your own passcode (4 to 10 digits) and you can change it whenever you want. When choosing a passcode, please choose a number that is easy for you to remember, but not something easy for others to figure out (like your phone number) or something trivial (like 1234).
If you forget your passcode, Illicall will be able to reinitiate your mailbox with a new temporary passcode but will not be able to access your passcode. You will need to visit the Illicall Office and present your university ID to obtain a new passcode.
If you make an error when entering your passcode, you will be prompted to enter it twice correctly before you are allowed into your mailbox. You must listen to the prompt before entering the passcode again.
This is the five digit number that identifies your mailbox.
The first time you access your voice mailbox, a user tutorial is automatically activated. The tutorial will guide you through recording a greeting for your callers, recording your name, and setting your passcode.

To avoid long blank messages, the system stops recording if there is a pause of five seconds. Therefore, there may be times your caller is cut off if he or she happens to pause too long. Also, background noise will record as a normal message even though there is no talking.
Once you are familiar with the voice mail system prompts, most can be skipped by pressing the appropriate button.

- Dial 4-0505 (if you hear another user's name, enter * )
- Enter your 5 digit mailbox number plus *
- Enter your passcode when prompted.
- From off-campus...
- Dial 217-244-0505
- Enter your 5 digit mailbox number plus *
- Enter your passcode when prompted.
- From your room telephone...
- Dial 4-0505
- Voice Mail says: "Welcome Mail box 2XXXX"
"To retrieve messages for (student's name), press 1;
for (other student's name), press 2, etc.
- Enter 1, 2, 3, or 4 .
- Voice Mail says: "Hello user xxxxx."
"Please enter your passcode."- Enter your passcode.
- From another campus telephone...
- Dial 4-0505 (if you hear another user's name, enter * )
- Enter your 5 digit mailbox number plus *
- Enter your passcode when prompted.
- From off-campus...
- Dial 217-244-0505
- Press 8
- Enter your 5 digit mailbox number plus
- Enter your passcode when prompted.
Access your voice mailbox.
The system will announce how many "Unplayed" and how many "Saved" messages you have. It will then prompt you to press P (7) key to play your first unplayed message.
Press: 1 to pause for 30 seconds.
* to move back 5 seconds.
# to move forward 5 seconds.
8 plus # to skip to your next message.
8 plus * to go back to prior message.
K (5) to Keep a message.
P (7) to re-Play a message.
D (3) to Discard a message.
You can retrieve a discarded message by pressing * before playing the next message.
NOTE: Your box will hold a maximum of 15 messages. It will keep a message for 4 days unless you delete it earlier.
Access your voice mailbox.
Press U (8) for User Options
Press P (7) for Passcode
Enter your new passcode (4 - 10 digits)
Press X (9) to save your passcode
Press X (9) again to eXit the system.
Access your voice mailbox.
Press U (8) for User Options
Press G (4) for Greeting
Press P (7) for Primary greeting
Press R (7) to begin Recording
Press # when finished
Press R (7) to Review greeting
Press D (3) to Discard and record again
Press A (2) to Append to your present greeting
Press X (9) to Save the greeting.
Access your voice mailbox.
Press U (8) for User Options
Press N (6) for Name
Press R (7) to begin recording
Press # when finished
Press X (9) to Save or
Press D (3) to delete and re-record.
