INFORMATION FOR NEW STUDENTS

Illicall, a division of the Campus Information Technologies and Educational Services (CITES) office, offers long-distance service to registered University of Illinois students living in University owned residence halls. Illicall services are for students only!

ILLICALL LONG-DISTANCE if you live in a University owned Residence Hall or have a 332- phone number...

Your room telephone is a part of the University’s telephone system and can be used for on-campus, local, or long-distance calls. There is no charge for on-campus or local calls. A University Illicall number is needed to bill long-distance calls (a telephone calling card may be substituted if desired). Illicall offers low rates, no surcharges, and discounted prices on telephone features.

Please order your Illicall number using our web order link, Illicall Long-Distance.

CALLING CARDS and 10-10-XXX

Please remember that the 332-XXXX telephone numbers belong to the University and are permanently assigned to specific rooms. Therefore, these telephone numbers do not support 10-10-XXX calling and may not be used as the billing telephone number for calling cards.

CORDLESS PHONES

Because billing problems can occur, Illicall does not recommend the use of cordless telephones in the residence halls.

900 NUMBERS

900 numbers are blocked on all Illicall numbers. Making a specific request, in person at the Illicall Office, may unblock them.

DIALING PATTERNS

Dialing patterns for placing calls through Illicall and instructions for using the standard telephone features are in the How To Use Your Residence Hall Room Telephone quick-reference guide published by Illicall.

Complete Illicall policies as well as all dialing patterns and instructions for using telephone features are also available on-line, Illicall Home.

RATES

Illicall rates compare favorably with other calling cards and residential services. If you do a comparison, please don’t forget to factor in surcharges, monthly fees, minimum charges, or other fees that are not always made obvious. Also, please remember that long-distance cannot be charged directly to a residence hall telephone (an Illicall number or some other card is required). A major advantage of our residence hall telephone service is that basic service is operational when you move in - no deposits required and no long wait for service to be activated. Another advantage for roommates is that each roommate is billed for his or her own calls - no trying to split up one bill! Please refer to Rates.

TELEPHONE FEATURES for 332- telephone numbers (University residence halls and some fraternities)...

Students living in a University owned hall might subscribe to one or more optional features offered by Illicall:

To order features visit the, Illicall Order Page. There is a $5.00 programming charge per feature.

The Operators can give you University telephone numbers (registered U of I students and departments/offices) at no charge. They can also give advice if you have trouble using your Illicall number or one of the features, Call Waiting, Voice Mail, etc.
